The great COVID Hysteria, from Easter 2020 to 2024

About 4 years ago this month, the US was gripped in fear by a virus that cause severe respiratory distress and in some cases, death. Accordingly, we over reacted and lived in fear daily of what turned out to be for most people, a bad case of the flu. By May of 2023, the WHO had officially ended the health emergency-a bit late.
Editors note: Little known to the general public is the medical term “precautionary principle”:
The precautionary principle is a broad epistemological, philosophical, and legal approach to innovations with potential for causing harm when extensive scientific knowledge on the matter is lacking. It emphasizes caution, pausing, and review before leaping into new innovations that may prove disastrous12.
So, the CDC, WHO and other public health agencies world-wide used that strict standard to guide their decision making, which was then relied on by government officials for lockdowns, mask mandates etc.-a huge mistake as it turned out.
In retrospect, we know know that that those with the greatest risk of dying for the infection had serious other health issues and were over 65. Also, the virus was totally air-borne-not contact spread.
Yes, the CDC reports that about 1.2 million US citizens died from the disease-in a population of 300,000 million. Except those numbers are suspect for a number of reasons, the most glaring one being that hospitals were given a 10K bonus by the Federal Government for each death listed as COVID on death certificates. Also, the co-morbidity factors are now well understood and obesity was a strong co-morbidity factor in many of those who died, along with diabetes, asthma and other chronic respiratory ailments.
When President Trump laid out his “Project Warp Speed” the Fauci folks changed the test protocols so as to speed up the approval of the vaccines, thereby violating their own precautionary principle. MRNA style vaccinations were introduced for the first time, a new and radical way of attempting to create immunity. By the time the vaccines were ready to deploy the natural course of a viral contagion, which is it always becomes less virulent and less deadly, had already begun. Yet, the Federal, and State governments were requiring all workers to get the shot. Thousands of members of the armed services were discharged for disobeying the order. (Now, they have been offered their jobs back, but so far, no back compensation.)
EDITORS NOTE: Our family members refused the MRNA style vaccine (Moderna, Pfizer) but got the Johnson and Johnson proven method, using a killed virus vaccine and none of us got COVID, despite working alongside people who did get ill.
Arizona was in the middle of the states as far as lockdowns. California and New York the worst, Florida under Governor DeSantis the least. CDC data indicates that the delta between California and Florida COVID infections was negligible. Governor Ducey was rightly pilloried for his school lockdowns and his infamous 800 “snitch line” to report businesses that were not complying.
Pinal County choose to not close its operations. Instead, it used COVID funds to greatly increase barriers for customer contact, ramped up air exchanges in buildings and created a work force that could work remotely and safely. It did weakly enforce employee mask mandates and deployed facial temperature reading devices everywhere so folks could check themselves for fevers.
SaddleBrooke HOA1 was restrained in its response, allowing most outdoor sports to continue, but closing or severely limiting dining options. HOA2 went all in for lockdowns. There were deaths from COVID among our residents as we fit the profile of most likely to succumb to the infection. Desert Life Pharmacy became the COVID jab center and did a fine job too.
President Biden (December 16th, 2021 CNN) famously and wrongly warned “But it’s here now and it’s spreading and it’s gonna increase. … We are looking at a winter of severe illness and death for the unvaccinated – for themselves, their families and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. But there’s good news: If you’re vaccinated and you have your booster shot, you’re protected from severe illness and death,” the President added.
The vaccine did not stop spread the of COVID (by then OMNICRON) and there was no major winter outbreak.
By May of 2023, long after the public had lost its fear of COVID, the WHO finally announced it was no longer a global health emergency. By then, 4 million people in the US had left the restaurant industry permanently, which still plagues our SaddleBrooke food venues today.

The other things we now know:
- COVID came from a lab-FBI and CDC now concede that the China lab leak was the likely cause
- Ivermectin worked -but only on some patients but not others, which is why the CDC was trying to suppress it
- Masks offered no benefit and were harmful-breathing your own exhalations from long periods was not a positive
- Keeping kids out of school was terribly wrong as very few got infected-teachers unions were the driver of this atrocity, “protecting our membership”
- Natural immunity is better than vaccinated immunity-recovering from an infection is still the best future protection
- Long COVID is often a symptom of long vax-this is disputed, but many people are suffering from the MRNA vaccinations
- Unvaccinated were scapegoated for the failure of the shots
- Risks of the jab were intentionally hidden from the public
