Governor Scott Walker to speak at Republican Club Luncheon, March 8th
VIA SBINSIDER | February 1st, 2023
The SaddleBrooke Republican Club will host former Governor Scott Walker (Wisconsin) on Wednesday, March 8th, for a luncheon in the HOA2 Ballroom. Governor Walker is currently President of Young America’s Foundation. Young America’s Foundation is committed to ensuring that increasing numbers of young Americans understand and are inspired by the ideas of individual freedom, a strong defense, free enterprise, and traditional values. Young America’s Foundation stepped forward to save President Reagan’s Western White House in the spring of 1998 to preserve a living monument to Ronald Reagan.
Walker was Governor of Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019 and became a conservative celebrity when he took on the Wisconsin teacher’s union which held immense political power via their unionization begun in 1959. The Walker-backed bill proposed to alleviate the budget shortfall included taking away the ability of public sector unions to bargain collectively over pensions and health care and limiting pay raises of public employees to the rate of inflation, as well as ending automatic union dues collection by the state and requiring public unions to recertify annually. His legislation passed.
Walker then successfully became the first Governor to defeat a recall effort, led by the same teachers union. He then ran for President in 2016 but dropped out early in the process and subsequently ran for Governor again, losing in 2018.
The luncheon will be in the HOA2 Ballroom. L Tickets are available from the DesertView website: Tickets.saddlebrooketwo.com. Doors open at 11
