Pinal County Attorney’s race also now contested

VIA SBINSIDER| March 30th, 2023

Pinal County already has a Sheriff (Mark Lamb) who is running for US Senate, a Board of Supervisor member Kevin Cavanaugh who is the subject of multiple lawsuits and has hinted that he would likely run for Sheriff, and now Cavanaugh’s former chief administrative aide has pulled paperwork to run for County Attorney.

Brad Miller, who is a former Marine JAG officer, had worked for Supervisor Cavanaugh until last year when he resigned. Cavanaugh had failed to convince his fellow Board members to approve a large increase in salary for Miller. Miller has filed to run as a Republican in the August 2024 primary.

The current County Attorney, Kent Volkmer defeated incumbent Lando Voyles in a hotly contested race. Lamb and Volkmer ran as a team to “restore integrity” to the County Attorney’s and Sheriff’s office. Voyles was closely linked with former Sheriff Paul Babeu who unsuccessfully ran for US Congress in 2016. Volkmer was unopposed in his re-election in 2020.
