TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Another one of the five suspects from a fatal shooting in Catalina in 2022 has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Drake Nolan was in court Monday, March 11, after pleading guilty to manslaughter. He was facing up to 21 years.

He is one of five people charged in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old James Sanchez at Black Horse Park at North Oracle and East Wilds roads in Catalina on June 21, 2022.

Zachary Connor, Richard Miller, Paul Rodriguez, and Joseph Nolan are the other suspects.

According to court documents, Sanchez and the suspects met up for a drug deal involving THC vape pens.

Several pens were found in Sanchez’s backpack after he was fatally shot.

Connor, who prosecutors said was the shooter, has already pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Miller has a plea hearing set for 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 25 while Rodriguez has a review hearing set for May 6. The trial for Joseph Nolan, Drake Nolan’s brother, is scheduled to begin July 9.
