Oracle, the local tourist jewel

Wanna get away? No, this isn’t an ad for Southwest Airlines, but you can “get away” just a few minutes up the road by visiting Oracle Arizona. In the last few weeks we have experienced several of the treasures of Oracle. One treasure was the subject of an article in this publication on the Oracle Music Society and their performances. A short drive and you can get away to these places.
Biosphere – for the science-oriented, visit the Biosphere for an interesting view into the closed environment world created to further space travel and study environmental impacts. Some walking is required. Experiments are still being performed in this controlled environment.
Casa Rivera’s Taco Express – Before or after your trip to the Biosphere, stop in at Casa Rivera’s Taco Express. It may not be much to look at, but is a perfect hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant where the food is tasty. Make sure you get a cup of fresh-made salsa to go, either hot or mild, you will love it.

Way of Bean Coffee Club – this new establishment has a comfortable inviting interior with coffee, tea and baked treats, as well as a full breakfast. Meet friends, relax, enjoy the community at this coffee club. You can join the coffee club for a reasonable fee and taste unique tea blends and various coffee beverages. If you enjoy iced or hot beverages, enjoy Way of Bean Coffee Club. Check out the web site for upcoming musical events.

Oracle State Park – Here you can experience the out of doors with a short hike or you can visit the Kannally Ranch House. Take a step back in time to how early settlers lived in Arizona. The ranch house would have been a life of luxury at the time. The gardens are a pleasure as are all the little spaces inside and outside of the ranch house. Another favorite of the science crowds are the dark sky nights at the park.

Oracle Farmer’s Market – Every Wednesday night you can join the party at the Oracle Farmer’s Market. For fresh locally-grown food, music, crafts, home-made items, and a different food vendor each Wednesday stop in and pick up some fresh food and enjoy the ambience. The small-town vibe is alive and well at Sue and Jerry’s Trading Post. Check out their Facebook page for the latest updates.
