FLORENCE — Pinal County staff are working to send out revised property tax statements reflecting a lower rate than the one billed several weeks ago.

Taxpayers who’ve already paid can expect a partial refund. Those who haven’t yet paid should wait for the updated bill. For those whose taxes are paid by their mortgage company, Pinal will make the corrections directly with the company and the taxpayer doesn’t need to take any action, according to announcements from Pinal County.

“Our office is working vigorously to provide updated tax bills to the public as quickly as possible,” Pinal Treasurer Michael McCord said in a Facebook video.

The Arizona Department of Revenue notified Pinal on Sept. 15 of a clerical error that resulted in an incorrect tax rate on 2025 primary property tax bills, according to a letter from Angeline Woods, director of Pinal’s Office of Budget and Finance.

“I immediately informed the treasurer’s office, and they took action to develop an effective solution,” Pinal County Manager Leo Lew said in the video with McCord.

“Our teams immediately began working on a solution to ensure the issue was corrected promptly and fairly,” Woods’ letter said. “With the help of Treasurer’s Office IT staff, the team has implemented the necessary changes to the tax billing system, and corrections are currently underway.”

“We are working diligently to issue new tax bills for 2025,” McCord said in the video.

All affected parcels will receive an automatic due date extension, he added. New tax bills, as they’re available, may also be seen on the treasurer’s online portal at treasurer.pinal.gov/parcelinquiry.
