Pro Baseball Returns to Southern Arizona

FROM PINAL COUNTY SOURCES| February 16th, 2025

Professional Baseball is back in Tucson! The Old Pueblo has been selected as one of two sites in the WORLD to host the World Baseball Classic qualifiers. This will be the first time since 2010 that Major League Baseball players will be on the field in Tucson at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium. The tournament will host Germany, Colombia, China, and Brazil March 2-6th, and Pinal County poohbahs are urging SaddleBrooke residents to attend. With a strong showing of attendance for the six games, Tucson could once again prove on the Major League stage that is a sports town, and an international destination.

Tucson and Casa Grande has a long history of professional baseball teams traveling south to complete spring training. In Casa Grande, the Francisco Grande was the site of spring training for the San Francisco Giants.
