Pinal Board Shuts Down Cavanaugh, Early Balloting Begins

VIA SBINSIDER REPORTING| October 12th, 2024

The Pinal County Board heard a report from a 3rd party investigative team which completely repudiated Supervisor Keven Cavanaugh’s claims of primary election mischief or mistakes causing him to lose his election to Ross Teeple for Sheriff. Cavanaugh for several years, has been crying foul on both election directors, prior director Virginia Ross and the current director, Dana Lewis.

The Board hired an outside firm to assure the taxpayers that the systems and security are in place to give voters confidence in election outcomes. Cavanaugh made 3 claims in his complaint: First that his statistical analysis showed that votes in the mail-in balloting and election day voting were such that an anomaly was evidence of manipulation. The outside expert in statistics made hash of that argument showing how Cavanaugh used poor math and incorrect data sets to create a false narrative. Second, Cavanaugh claimed that the USB drives used to transfer data from tabulators were uploading software to the machines, changing the results. The exam proved the USB’s used did not allow uploading and the machine logs showed only one-way download transfers. Third that a person inside the elections office interfered in the counting process to deny Cavanaugh a victory. The lawyers interviewed all the election employees and found no evidence. Cavanaugh had claimed he had a “whistleblower” inside who he could not produce. The investigators concluded that the person did not exist.

Cavanaugh is also running as a write-in candidate for Recorder. This position may or may not, depending on the Board,  also control elections. Currently, Dana Lewis is Recorder and took on the Elections Director job when prior directors left. She worked in elections before being appointed to the Recorder job upon the resignation of Virginia Ross.

After the report, the other four board members expressed their complete confidence in her leadership and her team.
