Veep is an American political satire comedy television series that aired on HBO from April 22, 2012, to May 12, 2019.[3] The series was created by Armando Iannucci. The protagonist of Veep is Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), a fictional Vice President of the United States. The series follows Meyer and her team as they attempt to make their mark and leave a legacy but often instead become mired in day-to-day political games.
Dreyfus became famous as an actor on the TV series Jerry Seinfeld.
Selina Myers is portrayed as a vapid, insecure Vice-President who is frustrated that she gets no attention from the President and is virtually unknow to the media and the public. After Kamal Harris became the Presidential candidate via a White House coup against Joe Biden, the HBO series viewing skyrocketed as political types spread the meme that Harris is indeed Meyer come to real life.
Harris as a candidate has utterly failed to close the case against Donald Trump and continues to produce “word salad” answers to what are high fast ball questions served up by friendly interviewers. Watching her doppelganger Myer in the TV series is very eye-opening as to how accurately they predicted an incompetent VP being catapulted to the top job.
SBINSIDER has posted Meyer’s best moments from the show on our home page. If you take a look, the performance of both the fictional character and Harris is uncanny. If the voters decide on November 5th to elect Harris, they should expect a replay of the VEEP TV series. Perhaps Biden, in retrospect, may have been a better candidate or the Democrats could have held an open convention and Gavin Newsom or another rising Democrat could have snatched the nomination.
If Trump wins, a former President who played himself as a reality TV star will become the 2nd person elected to two non-consecutive terms to the Presidency. The other person elected to non-consecutive terms? Grover Cleveland, number 22 and 24.
