Grillin’ and Chillin’ Review

Grilled

At the end of April we tried the Chillin’ and Grillin’ with Chef Dylan meal on Wednesday.  Usually we enjoy the Chef’s Dinners. Chillin’ and Grillin’ is a little more casual and served in the Road Runner Grill, either inside or out. Joined by our neighbors, we enjoyed the grilled meal that started with corn fritters served with jalapeno aioli and chives on a bed of fresh spinach. The corn fritters were slightly sweet and the aioli provided a little kick to the fritters.

The grilled meal was served with two meats; marinated skirt steak with a red pepper cream sauce and achiote chicken, topped with avocado pico de gallo. Ummmm, delicious. The skirt steak was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked, on the rare side. The chicken, though tasty, was a little dry. Easy to do with chicken on the grill. The avocado pico de gallo provided the right accent for the grilled meat.

Under the grilled meat you could find a few wedges of potato. On the side was the grilled summer squash. It all came together for a scrumptious grilled meal. Served with color, flair, and a variety of textures, this combination satisfied our appetites.

Made right at the Road Runner kitchen was the denouement of the meal. We were served the dulce de leche ice cream cake and chocolate and caramel sauce. Take a look at the picture. Even though we had plenty to eat, we could not resist this perfect finish.

One aside, the event included live music out on the patio, which was welcome by many eaters but a bit too much volume for those who wanted to engage in conversation.
